On December 17, 2005, MACE held its Annual MACE Holiday BASH. It was another
huge success! MACE Teachers, MACE Staff, and MACE Friends always have a blast at this annual party! This year, as always,
many gifts (with smaller cash prizes), large cash prizes, and recognitions flowed. James "Gunny" Yawn, a Latin teacher in
the DeKalb County School System, received The Distinguished Educator Award for 2005-2006. Cherilyn Davis of DeKalb's Bethune
Middle School was awarded The Teacher's Advocate award, another prestigious MACE award. Cherilyn's husband, Ira Davis, is
a teacher at DeKalb's Stone Mountain High School. Ms. Davis also won a $200.00 cash prize. Ms. Jocelyn Mack, a teacher at
Atlanta's Herndon Elementary School, racked up two cash prizes which totalled $400.00. Ms. Mack's husband, Milton Mack, was
present and quite happy! Mr. Mack teaches at Atlanta's Carver High School. Over thirty prizes were given out at the BASH and
excitement was in the air! The food and beverages were plentiful! We hope to see you at next year's BASH! Andrew Manning
of Hill Elementary School in Atlanta also received The Teacher's Advocate award. Andrew had to miss the BASH because
of recent back surgery.
